Side is an ancient Greek city on the southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey, a resort town and one of the best-known classical sites in the country. It lies near Manavgat and the village of Selimiye,65 km from Alanya) in the province of Antalya. It is located on the eastern part of the Pamphylian coast, which lies about 20 km east of the mouth of the Eurymedon River. Today, as in antiquity, the ancient city is situated on a small north-south peninsula about 1 km long and 400 m across.
A visit to Aspendos would be a good day trip with very well preserved Roma. Ruins including a stadium , amphitheater, aqueduct and basilica . The views from the aqueduct are great , some restoration work going on at the amphitheater but still worth the visit – might be hard for people with mobility issues to trek uphill to see.
The Kursunlu Waterfall is a small cascade set amid a cool, pine forest. While not as impressive as the more visited Duden Waterfalls, the Kursunlu falls feel a little more remote due to their setting and access via a short and pleasant walk through the forest.
During the summer months Alanya is very hot and humid.
It is a good idea to have a bottle of water with you at all times.
