What to know about Kepez

Kepez lies north of central Antalya and is largely residential. For visitors the draw is the Upper Düden Waterfall, where the Düden river drops over a 20-metre lip.

A path through the cave behind the fall lets you see the water from the back; the park around it is shaded with plane and pine trees and serves as an in-town picnic ground.

The district is also part of the city's transport spine: the intercity bus terminal, the northern end of the tram line and the highways out of Antalya all run through it.

When to go

The waterfall is fullest in spring and drops off by late summer. Thanks to the shade, the park is bearable even on July and August afternoons. Winter is rainy but the fall is at its most dramatic.

Getting there

Ten kilometres from the city centre, 20-30 minutes by tram or municipal bus. Antalya Airport is 18 km east. Upper Düden is reachable by public transport and has ample parking.

What to see in Kepez

  • Upper Düden Waterfall

A 20-metre fall with a cave passage behind it, 10 km from the centre. Allow 45-60 minutes; the surrounding park is well shaded.

  • Düden riverside trails

Shaded paths through the park around the waterfall — one of the coolest corners of the city in summer, and busy with locals at weekends.

  • Antalya bus terminal

The intercity terminal and the northern end of the tram line sit in this district; departures for Isparta, Konya and Denizli leave from here.

Frequently asked questions

Are Upper and Lower Düden the same waterfall?+

No. Upper Düden is inland in Kepez, with a cave path behind the water; Lower Düden falls off the cliffs into the sea in Muratpaşa. They are about 12 km apart.

How long does the waterfall take?+

Forty-five to sixty minutes covers the park and the cave passage. Most city tours combine it with Kaleiçi and Lower Düden.
